Dr Victor Mwapasa

Co-Principal Investigator & Professor, Public Health at the College of Medicine in Blantyre, Malawi

Dr Mwapasa is a public health expert, research scientist and Professor at the University of Malawi, College of Medicine (CoM). His research focuses on the epidemiology of malaria and HIV, including testing the efficacy and effectiveness of novel diagnostic tests and interventions and evaluating public health implementation strategies.

Dr Linda Nyondo-Mipando  

Co-Principal Investigator & Deputy Dean of Public Health at the College of Medicine in Blantyre, Malawi

Linda is a health systems researcher and faculty member of the Department of Health Systems and Policy at the College of Medicine, where she teaches and supervises studentsresearch projects. She also serves as Deputy Dean of the School of Public Health and Family Medicine. Her interests are in Health Systems and Implementation Science Research with a focus on health service delivery including quality management. 

Dr Nicola Desmond

Co-Principal Investigator & Social Science Head at Malawi-Liverpool Wellcome Trust, Blantyre

Dr Desmond is a Senior Lecturer at Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine and a medical anthropologist by training. She is currently based in Malawi, where she leads the Behaviour and Health Research Group at the Malawi-Liverpool-Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Programme. She leads the multi-disciplinary research work drawing on both qualitative and quantitative approaches in research and development of pragmatic interventions addressing behaviours associated with health engagement. 

Dr Arnold Jumbe

Site Investigator & Thyolo District Health Officer

Dr Jumbe is currently the acting Director of Health and Social Services at Thyolo District Health Office. He is involved in resource mobilization, supervising members of District Health Management Team, supervising health centers, planning and budgeting, doing ward rounds at the District Hospital as well as teaching clinical and nursing students.

Dr Arnold Kapachika

Site Investigator & Machinga District Health Officer

Dr Kapachika is currently working with the Ministry of Health of Malawi as the Acting Director of Health and Social Services for the Machinga district, where he plays a key role in improving the health status of the 668,233 catchment population of the district. He is also contributing to research ethics governance through his membership in the hospital research committee.

 Dr Patrick Mapemba

Site Investigator & Chiradzulu District Health Officer#

Following an internship programme at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH), Dr Mapemba was deployed by the government of Malawi in October 2017 to work as a Senior Medical Officer at the Chiradzulu District Hospital.
